The Joyce and William Umbima Foundation was born from a simple truth: everything is connected. The food we share, the spaces we create, the leaders we develop, and the communities we nurture through Discovery Grounds all flow from the same source, relationship. What began as a desire to give back through those relationships became something more.
Established in memory of my father, a devoted conservationist, and in honor of my mother, whose steady support has shaped every step of my journey, the foundation also carries the bold imagination of my nine year old son, who first dreamed it up. We are still building, still shaping, and just getting started.
