Jikoni celebrates Kenyan and East African food, heritage, and shared experience. Rooted in warmth and hospitality, it creates moments where people connect through flavor, story, and tradition. Because sometimes the most powerful conversations happen over a beautifully prepared meal.
The William Umbima Foundation
Where purpose becomes impact.
The William Umbima Foundation was established in memory of William Umbima, honoring the values, wisdom, and passion he passed down to his daughter, Mboone, founder of Discovery Grounds. His life and leadership inspired a deep commitment to community, integrity, and the responsibility of caring for the natural world.

With a special focus on conservation in Kenya, the foundation supports efforts to protect and preserve the land, wildlife, and natural beauty that make Kenya extraordinary.

The foundation is also inspired by Mboone’s mother, whose compassion and strength sparked a lasting dedication to improving the lives of women and children in Kenya. Her influence continues through initiatives that uplift, empower, and create opportunities for those who need them most.

Through legacy-driven impact, the William Umbima Foundation exists to honor the past while building a stronger future.

In Other Words
Rethinking leadership, culture, and the human condition.
In Other Words is Mboone’s reflective blog exploring the ideas that shape how we live, lead, and relate to one another. It is a space for thoughtful examination of workplace culture, personal growth, power dynamics, purpose, identity, and the everyday complexities of being human.

Some posts challenge conventional thinking.
Some untangle complicated questions.
Some simply pause long enough to see things differently.

Because leadership is human. Culture is human. And understanding the human condition requires curiosity.
